Pre-Botox Diaries: Why I’m Documenting My Face (And What I’m Avoiding)

Okay, so I’m wrapping up a few talks over the next couple of days, but before I dive into my next round of Botox, I wanted to do something a little different—document my face before the injections. Why? Because movement matters. And I’ve actually regained most of mine since my last round, which is kind of wild to see on camera.

I’ll be doing a follow-up video in two weeks to show the difference post-injection, so stay tuned for that. But in the meantime, let’s talk about what I am doing—and what I’m totally skipping.

First off, yes, I’ve got multiple lines on my forehead. I like to call it “big forehead energy”—because if you’re going to have a fivehead, you might as well own it, right? Injecting these lines is always a bit of a dance, especially near the brows. Too much and you risk drooping. Too little and the lines stick around like clingy exes.

This time around, I’m doing 25 units across a few key areas. But I’m skipping my mentalis muscle (that little one in your chin that can make it look pebbly). Why? Because I hate how it feels when it’s frozen. It’s uncomfortable and just not worth it for me.

Also not on the menu: the infamous lip flip. I know it’s trendy, but for me? Painful and pointless. It doesn’t give me the look I want, and I’d rather save those units for something that actually works.

One thing I do need to address: my platysmal bands. Those vertical neck lines that pop out when you say “eeee.” They’re part of my regular maintenance, and honestly, they make a big difference in keeping everything looking smooth and lifted.

So if you’re curious about Botox or wondering what’s worth it and what’s not—just know it’s all about personalization. What works for one face might not work for another. And documenting the journey helps me (and hopefully you) see the subtle shifts that make a big impact.
